David Villa scored two goals Wednesday to help Spain beat Armenia 4-0 and extend the European champion's perfect start in World Cup qualifying to two straight wins.
Joan Capdevila and Marcos Senna scored Spain's other goals in the Group 5 match at Carlos Belmonte Stadium, four days after the team beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0.
Spain leads the group with six points, two points more than Turkey and Belgium, which drew 1-1 earlier Wednesday.
"I scored but what was important was to win," Capdevila told Spanish state TV. "We did so and are racking up points. The early goals helped to calm us down."
Spain's win stretched its unbeaten run to 25 games and continued its winning record under coach Vicente Del Bosque, who has now guided the team to three wins since replacing Luis Aragones in August.
Del Bosque handed an international debut to 18-year-old Bojan Krkic as a 65th-minute substitute, ending debate about whether the FC Barcelona forward would play for Spain or Serbia, the country of his father's birth.
Spain, lacking injured Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Valencia midfielder David Silva, led from the seventh minute when Capdevila scored after receiving Andres Iniesta's defense-splitting pass.
Villa doubled Spain's lead nine minutes later when he curled a low shot past Armenia goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky after Iniesta's shot had been blocked.
The 98th-ranked Armenia, which had lost all its previous five games against Spain, almost reduced the deficit in the 27th minute when Levon Pachayan's angled shot was blocked by goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
Villa then headed a clear chance wide in the 33rd and, a minute later, saw his volley parried by Berezovsky as Armenia struggled against the speed and skill of the Spanish attack.
However, the visitors didn't lose heart and Artur Voskanyan shot just over the bar from the edge of the Spanish penalty area in the 36th, with Casillas then saving Arman Karamyan's shot with his legs a minute later.
With Spain initially less effective after halftime, Del Bosque replaced striker Daniel Guiza in the 55th minute with midfielder Xabi Alonso, who made his 50th international appearance.
Alonso shot wide in the 69th minute and Villa hit the post four minutes later as Spain began to power forward again.
The two players combined in the 79th for Villa to increase Spain's lead with his second goal of the game.
Villa has now scored 21 goals in 38 internationals, making him Spain's eighth leading scorer of all time. The Valencia striker was the leading scorer at the European Championship with four goals, helping Spain win a major trophy for the first time in 44 years.
Senna, who was born in Brazil, then lashed home Spain's fourth from outside the area three minutes later for his first international goal.
Spain next plays on Oct. 11 when it visits last-place Estonia. Armenia plays in Belgium the same day.
